Couple of nice steady days at Rod & Gun.
Wed 4.5 for most, 5.0 for the stronger guys.
Thurs 6.5 and steady cruising.
No crowds, enough water, little annoying chop. |

Duplicate post cause I was informed there was no route to the Forum. Sorry about that.

Good day at Natural Bridges. Folk out on 4.7s and less in size. One on a 5.0. Occasionally a big set would come through. Blowing close to thirty average. Gusts, of course, higher. |

Good again. 3.7 to 5.2. Roughly corresponding to the sailor's size. |

San Luis Res no weeds yet
The water level is pretty low . (around 218)
There is an island showing buy the campsites on the south side.
And about three shallow spots it is best to walk through.
The channel by the power lines is fine.
About to 5 to 10 sailing and camping.
Started out on a 5.7 about 2pm then went to a 5.3 about 3 pm.
One the most even wind days so far out of the 4 or 5 times I have
been up there this year. |

Great day at Crissy on a the HSM Firelight 4.3, powered up for the afternoon. Lot of chop but also some swell just west of point Anita.
Witnessed second Kite "accident" in three days. Thursday a kiter lost is board and dragged himself to shore with the kite, Saturday I almost got tangled in a kite drifting downwind with no kiter in sight. Turned around and there he was, 50 yards upwind, drifting hopelessly in the Ebb tide a mile plus from shore. To make the story short the Coast Guard picked him up later. Still kind of scary to see somebody in the middle of the Bay with no floatation and no hope to make it back by his own means ... |

i don't sail crissy much and yesterday was a rare exception. so please what is the proper procedure when you see a kite racer flying at crissy straight downwind at full speed out of control/no way to stop/depower, no room to navigate, overtaking everyone, toward the beach where everyone jibing/crashing/slogging/no wind. well i tried congratulating them on how "forward-thinking" they were being, but i'm open to other ideas for the future.
p.s. i don't mean to turn this into kite bashing, just honestly curious. |

Windy! 3.5 to 5.2 depending on sailor size. I was on a 6.5 on my first short session as the wind was lighter (in the teens) when I rigged. But it was blowing over 25 when I went out. So back in and down to a 4.7. Just right, but was still overpowered during some of the gusts. |

like a falling tree in the forest if a rider does something special where no one sees it it's not special
if the kiter was on large course board and experienced he may have just appeared out of control. guys on those setups can look pretty scary.
regardless, the sailor leaving the launch/harbor is supposed to have the right of way regardless of what (s)he is on. out on the water it's the one on starboard tack(right hand forward on the boom).
best to give anyone a wide berth no matter who has the right of way. |
