I have to say that I agree with Katsenelson. While I don't really know where he stands on politics, whether from the left or the right, he's right that money is playing far too great a role in our elections. In fact, playing for money is a full time job for most in Congress, and any that hope to be there. Frankly, I glad that President Obama publicly criticized the Supreme Court's "Citizen United" decision. In my view it was an absolutely terrible decision that will continue to have an untoward effect on the nature and outcome of our elections.
On another point, I did listen to Liszt's piano concerto No. 1 performed by both Lang Lang and Yundi Li, to include reading much of the commentary. Certainly complex music beautifully performed, but the criticism in the commentary was brutal at times. No doubt, we're not alone in having very divisive views of what's going on. |

Who'd have guessed that I would agree with capetonian.
If you watch the candidates carefully, particularly those in your area who will appear at fund raisers for ordinary folks like you and me, and will answer questions, you will get a pretty good idea about who is honest and who is not. Who is open minded and who is not. Who is bright, and who is not. They're usually happy to take your small amount of money, relative to what they have to raise, and they are generally very candid. Know your local politicians--and, if you trust them, who they trust. |

Mac, if you met Capetonian in person, he'd probably have you voting the other way. He's a very nice guy with only honorable intentions for his new homeland. He has seen how bad government can get. |

We must remember that some of our worst world leaders were elected democratically. Hitler, Chavez, Putin. |

Hey Bard, let's not forget Senators Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio and the whole gang of tea party crazies that have infested the House of Representatives. |
