Funny you should mention JBD I just passed him twice on thee road in the last week in Brewster (town he lives in). The first time he had an iceboat on top of his truck. I saw him at the beach once last summer not sailing just stopped by. I think he only sails if it is 4.2 and warm now. I know he got into radio controlled model iceboats and sail street cars and he designs these really cool sails with real flexible masts that squat down when powered. Good guy would like to see him on the water more.

I don't really know Jeff. I met him once, at Hardings Beach 11/07. His remote sailor was great entertainment when the wind died. He said it holds the surface speed record on ice- 39.3 MPH.

What happened to JBD, Jeff Brown?
I met him once on the ice of Wequaquet. He seemed rather quiet outdoors. In fact I've been told we have an acquaintance of his in common, John Ray. I know the old man well and believe he's still alive and kicking. He was a sailmaker for North back in the days the windsurfer was invented which was when I first met him. As to JB, many of his sails can be seen in use on the Cape, but I believe he has retired.

Good to hear Jeff is still up to some creative stuff there, very sharp guy indeed. I saw one of his sails our here on the SF Bay last summer and it got me wondering. I used to have a nice quiver of his sails that were great, never could figure out why he stopped making them, they were quite good! If anyone knows how to reach him please let me know, thanks!

About a week ago there was a photograph of Jeff Brown sailing a DN ice boat on long pond in Dennis.

Was that in the Cape Cod Times?

If you want to reach him, try going out on the ice. Wink Actually John Ray the 7th told us that sailmaking was not a very enjoyable activity for him. He was much happier when he moved on to making skateboards.
