Doing the criuse ship thing in March with a day at St. Martin.
I have sailing options. Windsurf at Orient Bay, or sail on the
12 M America Cup boats. Which would you do?

I sail both boards and boats. The Americal Cup boats would be
a one time chance, but sailing at Orient Bay looks like a lot of fun too.
I cant decide.

old school detuned 12meters are not that flash, espicially if you are already a sailior. Bone out from Orient and go around the corner to Galion. Eat, Kon Tikii at Orient sail at Galion. There are two rental spot at galion. One has some more high performance kit than the other. Che Pats which is now New Wave Cafe or something like that. Has rental gear right next to the cafe. Get some chairs and umbrella for the day. Let the girlfriend out hang topless with a glass of Pastis. Go for a sail come back for a cocktail. There is a reef break that can be really fun. Or just bomb around the bay. There are also lots of water toys snorkel stuff etc for the kids. Not worth snorkling there but the kids like it. The other spot is just down the beach. It is a sailing club with much better rental kit. The middle beach is covered in prickers. A buddy of mine got totally worked when he was drug through all the prickly bushes when learning kiting. Galion is way more chill and more of a locals spot. When done for the day hit the Lotterie Farm Tree Bar on the way back. Hard to find but way worth it. I like it there, spent two season based on St.Maarten. If you can go to the Sunset Bar for mudslides and the AirFrance/KLM airbuss take off, hang on the fence directly behind a fully throttled up airbuss.

89spring:
Wow, lots of tips. I'll have to check out Galion.
I hope the rentals have some decent gear
and not just junk for the tourists.
Looks like I'll go for the board instead of the 12M.
Thanks.
