Sailing between Coyote and Candlestick

I was looking at the wind statistics in the past days (guess not much else to do) and I noticed that the SFO airport has by far the highest averages/peak winds throughout the year.

Question is: how to get in the water given the dismal water access situation in the Bay Area? Coyotwindsurf mentioned the following locations between Coyote and Candlestick:

Embassy Suites, Haskins (Flying Tigers), Oyster Point, Sierra Point

Any opinions, suggestions about how to get there or somewhere else? I could never really figure out where Embassy and Haskins are ... I think I know about the Oyster Point access (with the ramp), not sure about Sierra Point ...

Depending on your skill level Embassy is one of the best access points with a very friendly local crew.

From the South Bay exit Anza It is the second Burlingame exit. As soon as you hit the stop light go straight across. You'll see Red Roof Inn on your right. Keep going straight and about 1/4 mile or Embassy Suites hotel will b eon your left. Stay over to your right.

From the city exit take Broadway - Burlingame. Bear left at the initially, don't take immediate right turn and cross under overpass, immediately then bear right and cross over the overpass staying in the right lane. You'll see Rector Audi on the corner. Over the overpass make a right at the stop light to Airport Blvd. 500 feet left at next stop. 76 gas station on the corner. Airport blends to one lane and you'll stay on Airport Blvd snaking South along the bay for about 3/4 mile to next stop light, get into the left lane, you are at Anza. Make a left and follow to the little park at th end, follow directions above.

You'll dead end at a small park, you'll see the rest room and fishing pier, that's where you park.

Rig on the grass. There's also a hose on the fish washing station to clean off after sailing.

Just South of the fishing pier is the launch. South I mean away from the airport and by south by 10 feet. Traverse down the rocks and get in the bay.

The easiest point is literally 10 feet. At low tide you'll notice someone kindly removed stones at the bottom of the launch. If you glance back you'll see a that there is a concrete block with two identically drilled holes in it half way up the rocks, that's your marker for exit point.

Caution: Fisherman throwing lines across the exit / launch area. Usually OK and most of the time they are OK if you are respectful. Sometimes idiots break glass on the rocks, however rare.

Sailing: Watch for low sand bars at low tide. Between the launch and runway. Keep and eye on the inside when past the runway as it shuts off quicker than the outside.

Great spot, quickly into the windline. Probably the best rigging and clean up area and most importantly KinCaids restaurant, you can walk along the path south 3 - 4 mins across has happy hour (unless you had a crappy session) 5 - 7 I believe.

Watch the airport sensor, Coyote reads low.

Haskins is at the end of Haskins Way off of Grand Ave. in So.City. The launch is a short walk down a bike path from the parking lot.

Water is flat as swimming pool.

The tide has to be pretty high in order to sail.

Wind speed and direction are pretty much whatever the SFO sensor is saying.

You know I was part of the original crew of 5 to sail N of Embasy, circa 1983.
Oyster is of course that, high parking lot looking down and Southward into a small cove that was bordered on the other side by UPS. Many buildings were erected to the W, so gusty nowadaze.
Haskins is S side, FlyingTigers. You park where the motocross track used to be, and sail there mid to high tides.
Sierra is well explained, usually best when the other 2 are too SW..usually late fall.

Haskins: this place is awesome: flat water and no crowds. You need 4ft + water or else you're in for a major trudge through the mud. Seems to work from W to NW, and the SFO sensor and windtalker can give you the conditions on the water. The sensors can read low, and it is usually windier than it looks. This place can be 4.5 when Candlestick is shut down... dunno why, but it happens. If the wind goes more WSW or SW, then I think Haskins gets flukey... go to Oyster Point.

Oyster Point: This place has flat water too, but you can sail downwind and past Genentech to sail near the runways w/ strong wind and more chop. I usually just sail in the little cove for flat water: great for freestyle and hero jibes. Seems to work best on WSW wind when the Coyote sensor is reading this WSW direction. I've sailed with as little as 2ft of water or so, and it's not a problem.
