My experience with Christians is slightly different. For example, In the town I grew up in my grandmother lived right across the street from the Catholic Church and school. The priest there, at that time, wore more gold jewelry than Mr. T, a full length mink fur coat, and got a shinny brand new black Cadillac every year. Also, he had a penchant for ass holes of the little boys in his parish. Oh well, at least your wife will be safe Wink

Some how the original subject of this thread ended up falling towards right versus left propaganda.. It amazes me how everyone gets so worked up by both the left and right politics. Its a waste of time and allows the powers that be to pursue agendas that the vast majority of the US population is not aware of.

Also refreshing that no one on this forum appears to be a multimillionaire, the only people (non-institutional) allowed to invest in hedge funds. Sadly I too am not able to invest in hedge funds.. maybe some day! Smile Even then I wouldn't trust my money with a broker or CFA.. I'd buy my own hedges and derivatives..

Good luck to all.

PS. Over the next six months will be a good time to selectively buy stock in good companies paying high dividends. Some companies are paying 10-15% dividends.. try finding that in bonds!

PS. We live in the best country in the world, even if it does swing a little bit too socialistic at times, or too conservative at other times. Our country has extremely low corruption when compared to the rest of the world, safety nets for the unlucky and stupid, a capitalistic system that will continue to provide wealth and we donate more than any other country! Be proud to be an American (even when times are tough.)

I agree. Yours is an important point. But it doesn't mean that we should not try to make our country better or that we should accept any form of corruption, intolerance or systematic incompetence.

"Over the next six months will be a good time to selectively buy stock in good companies paying high dividends. Some companies are paying 10-15% dividends."

No doubt, I can't say that I wouldn't like to get a bit of that kind of return as part of my investments at this juncture.

Aside from companies that have a solid performance record right now, it will be very interesting to see how things across the country might leverage off the stimulus package that Obama is developing. I think most of us would like to see investments directed to interesting and potential productive ventures rather than towards the failures and rescue packages that have been more the rule lately.

I also have to wholeheartedly agree, joewindsurf is right on with his perspective. I think that it's super important now, more than ever, to recognize the strength of this country and be proud as Americans.
