Fleet Week air shows start with practice on Thursday and run through the weekend. The location of the restricted zones combined with expected tides (mostly ebbing in the afternoons) is unlikely to result in conflicts. The west end of the air box closure area is roughly off of the St. Francis Yacht Club and closure runs from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm on Thursday and 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm Friday-Sunday. The area from Anita rock up to the Gate is fair game except during the parade of ships from approximately noon to 1:30 on Saturday. Details of closures can be found at:

Be aware that many boaters, including the less experienced and less cautious ones, will be out jockeying for position and you may want to sail defensively if you choose to head out on the water. There is no license or education required before you tool around the bay in a high power boat.

Thx Peter.

Paddled around under the air show on a stand up Sat and Sun. Boaters were in great spirit.

Also sailed later Sat right after the show, 3 of us on the water.

Only issue was some absolute tool in an open ocean closed cabin speedboat who came barreling across the bay from the North Tower at 50 mph plus. I was amazed that the USCG let this moron get away with it, keep an eye for this idiot when sailing or kiting, incredible he hasn't killed anyone yet.
