I would like to know first hand from sailors that weigh 210-220 pounds and have sailed Jeri in October what board sizes they used. I hear that the wind can be a little funky on the inside at high tide now due to some new condos--was that a factor? Also, I hear the flood tide makes the waves slightly bigger (though still not that big), so do people sail before or after the windiest time of day to catch the waves and thus need a relatively larger board for those sessions?
Thanks! |

Hold on, let me get my Windoggie to English translation manual out.
Yeah, that looks about right, too.
Alright...wow...I'm glad we got the name clarified for the one person and six dogs that were a little confused.
C'mon peeps. Do any freakin' large humans sail at this place? |

unless you are bringing your own gear I wouldn't worry too much. Vela rents all board and sail sizes. Ask them for advice and try different sizes on the water. Or call them up from home and ask away. |

Most consistent wind of anyplace I've ever been. I am 185 and sailed mostly 4.5-5.0 in November. I believe a little windier in October. A pain to get there but worth it. Watch out for the Europeans on the water-they don't have the same port/starboard and wave rule etiquette that we have here. |

I weigh about 200 and was mostly on 5.0 and 85 liter boards. Jeri is paradise just thinking about it now brings a smile to my face. Bring booties and I would also bring gloves. I got some nasty holes in my feet from sand in the footstraps. Also vela uses stock JP and starboard fins which I was not to happy with. Next time I go even though its a pain I'm bringing my own gear. |

Bringing your fins is about 5000000 times easier than lugging the whole kit thru the airport, let alone customs. Don't forget lots of extra cash for tips to porters and agents and excess baggage fees. Somes planes, shuttles, taxis, buses won't take large items too, (then what do you do? start cussin'!!). |

Thanks, everyone.
Aaron, I assume you were there in October? I weigh 215 and have started to figure out that I'm often using a relatively small board for my weight. Plus I like to sail really powered. So I was thinking a 90 liter JP Real World Wave would be a good choice for me down there most of the time. So it's good to hear that you were on an 85 a lot. Seems about right. |
