Hi guys,
I'm from Sweden and coming over to San Fransisco in July. I will not bring sails and masts. I was looking for shops to buy gear in. What are your recommendations for modern larger shops? I will be looking for new North Warps (sold out here) or similar. Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Jones

Hi Jones,

there are 3 shops that I can recommend:

- Airwave, they carry Goya boards and sails

- Boardsports school - they carry Quatro boards

- Davenport surf & sail - they carry Quatro boards as well

Aloha,

Pascal

Hi Jones,

We'll see you when you get here. Looks like you're a racer. As you may know, we have a pretty famous local shaper, Mike Zajicek, who shapes great formula and slalom boards.

Shops:
Me: Sunset Sailboards in San Francisco
Delta Windsurf Company in Rio Vista
Boardsports School in Coyote Point and Alameda
Kite Wind Surf in Alameda
Helm Sports in San Mateo

You may also want to check out this site if you're a racer: www.calcupevents.com

You can buy Hansen Sails and Mike's Lab boards here as well as browse the local racing scene.

No shops really stock race sails here in the Bay Area. Most shops will be able to special order for you, or you can buy second hand sails from local racers if you don't need the latest sails.

Shoot me an email or PM, and I can put you in touch w/ someone from the racing community directly.

kev

kevinkan,

I've been a long time customer for Mike's Lab boards (Mike Zajicek) and Hansen Sails/previously Windwing Sails prior to 2006 (Bill Hansen). These guys are some of the best in the business from my viewpoint. Thanks for mentioning them here. I can only say positive things about these guys. Although they're not as well known on the international scene, especially with all the focus on high volume producers on the international scheme of things, you're really getting the creme of the crop in my mind.

This is great stuff and Calcup series looks nice. I might make it to the event in July.

Hansen might do it (but my concern would be lead-times [are those in stock since included in online shopping] and stability in smaller sizes with three cams, but I'll take those issues directly with them.) I know they are good (but truly rare in Europe) in formula sizes.

Kevin, I will drop you a memo on other matters.

thanks again and be safe out there - summer is here and wind is pickin up

Cheers, Jones
