To my dear friends at Coyote,

If any of you happen to be wallowing in the mud at an ultra-low tide, please be on the lookout for a Maui Fin Company 21 cm fin that looks like it was sawed off to about 16 cm, sanded, then gnawed on by a baby leopard shark, revealing a pitted leading edge.

Yeah yeah, I've got a few other fins I can saw off down to my preferred length, but this particular one actually has sentimental value, and yeah, I probably sailed without a fin screw in my haste to help get someone else (ahem) rigged. Smile

Probably about 70 feet off shore at the east end of the decrepit promenade.

Oh, and by the way, Coyote was about as good as it gets late today.

Thanks,
-Mark

I burned 3 MFCs in one season (two 8'' 4S and one 8.5 FPT "carbon".
The 4s's always split along the leading edge. The profiles are nice but the construction just suck...or I have a case of very bad luck !!!
I went back to True-Ames Enduro G10, when I hit the reef at low tide, it barely gets a nick and never caused damaged to my fin box..

PS : I am tempted to try the new MFC Goya G10s..but I am afraid this is another rip-off, anybody used them ?

Yeah? But how does it perform without a fin screw?

I broke one fin screw in all my life and when it happened I was able to reuse the fin afterwards....Usually you are close to shore when it happens so this is not a big deal.

I am still questioning the MFC construction, perhaps I should send them back to the Haiku canery. Any anybody else has issues with those fins ?

Although I'm deeply saddened by your loss, I hope you'll find some consolation in the "Get Mark a Real Fin" fund I started early last season. As of today the sum is a buck sixteen (in nickels and pennies), a 2 pesos coin, one paperclip and a bent washer (not stainless). I have selflessly provided matching funds for the pesos, paperclip and washer.

Until the full funding goal is met perhaps you should Mark your calendar for

I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do about your loose screw.

Heh, the Dremel battery is charging right now. Soon I'll be the proud owner of a custom 12.5cm and a custom 17cm. Smile

Still trying to figure out whether I can use that bent washer or not, but if you're looking for a sponsor, I might be able to help you out. You can choose from either of these models from my brand new collection... Wink

Hi Mark,

Your created shapes certainly do change things, and I imagine how they might now perform, but I hope you plan to finese them a bit more. You know, smooth and trick the foils to highlight and finish your concepts.
