Hi,

Margarita/El Yaque used to be touted as more of an intermediate venue than Aruba as you could generally count on higher winds for the Venezuelan locale. However, recently (last 12 months) the wind sensors seem to be showing Aruba with higher and more reliable winds. I realize the wind sensors in both cases are located at the airports but I was wondering if any locals could confirm what the sensors are showing?

Aruba was quite windy in early January. Windguru was calling for 17 to 19 knots (at the airport) the whole week. Sails were 6.5 to 5.5 on the beach. Wind was quite gusty and offshore.

I don't remember Margarita being so offshore but I also think you are more likely to have days when you are skunked there.

Margarita has dead side shore winds and is windier than Aruba. It is a MUCH better spot to sail.

Well,
Based on last week's wind sensor readings it looks like Aruba is still shown as having stronger winds than Margarita? The model data also tends to show the same trend for the predicted data.
