| I can report with some satisfaction that the weed situation is rapidly improving. I did my best to cut some more today, and generally it seems that a channel is developing where we need it. |

Yes there were. At times it was tough getting out. But I don't know where that line thru the kelp is. I got all tangled up. |

I'd be curious what time that "1st shift" was, as the sensor showed that it was in the low-mid-teens until 4pm at which time it suddenly came up and was probably good until 6pm.
On prior occasions, when I've checked the readings after sailing, I have concluded that the sensor has to show an avg. of about 17, or gusts past 20 for it to be sailable...at least on my gear. It's frustrating not being able to trust the sensor. |

| The graph for yesterday is pretty accurate. It corresponds to what happened on site. The best conditions were 4:30 to 6. |

Yesterday kicked my butt. Truth be told, it may not take that much to issue such a beating.
I rigged my 5.0, 4-battened, wave sail. I first put in on my 98L JP FW because mkrasnoff seemed to be having difficulties launching. It turned out that he was just waiting for a puff and lull in the waves. I rode a couple of tacks on the 98L before I concluded that it was too much volume. There were larger swells on the outside that called for my smaller board, an 86L JP FW. My biggest "whine-du-jour" was that I had a wave fin in the board instead of my weed wave. I spun out a more than a few times after catching mostly eel grass, but occasionally kelp, on the fin. I caught a wave or two but the kelp and light wind on the inside made the humps more teasers than anything else. I guess that can be the thing about some humps.
Now what did my soon-to-be-ex-wife do with my National Geographics?  |

Phillip,
Conditions weren't good for waveriding Thursday. Was told County was better for that.
The waves JP is talking about were windswell angled shore break on a low tide and the wind was side off and very light on the inside, which made it dicey getting to the windline. Supposedly some sets came through before most of us got there according to one sailor who caught the 1st shift. The outside was ripping with large swell and chop typical of winter clearing wind conditions but the temps were really mild. Everyone got worked but were stoked.
