I just broke my Dakine stainless steal spreader bar. It broke not at the welded points but on each side of the hook. I have also used the roller bars and that bent that as well. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an industrial strength bar or do I need to loose weight? I'm 210 lbs Sad

For a moment I thought this topic was about some new hot club in Hollywood, like "86", where the burlesque performers mingle and perform in cozy closeness with the dinner and drinking crowd.

Oh well... back to the 210 lbs vs. the chinese made harness bars.

I'm 200-225 lbs. (weight fluctuates a lot) and I've broken aluminum bars, but since I've switched to steel, I've never broken one. So I'm surprised you bent a steel one. Anyway, I'm wondering if you have a seat or waist harness. It seems to me that seat harnesses put more weight on the bar, where as waist harness just provide extra pull. I'm also wondering what conditions you sail in and how much you jump.

1. Try a waist harness. Maybe you already have. If not, borrow one just to see what it's like.

2. It's probably a good thing your spreader bar broke. If you get hit by a 10' wave somethings gotta give. If the bar had held and your harness held, then it would've been some part of your body that broke. Or in the other direction, it could've been boom, mast, or universal. So maybe you should just be thankful that it was the cheapest and easiest part to replace. Very Happy

I see 2 mistakes :
- sailing Davenport with a seat harness
- jumping while hooked on

..but I admit I have done both...
