Damn! IWindsurf recorded a gust to 70 MPH in Chatham at 8:11. I'm glad I wasn't on the water for that one.

A couple of us are going to try Deep Hole tommorow morning for some waves. If the wind stays up it might be a little wild.

It was pretty darn windy here in VA yesterday, too. We sailed for a while but eventually got blown off the water....

This morning it is calm, but it had been blowing rather seriously for a few days here on the Cape. Some of these gusts I have felt shake the house, and I'm three miles from the sound. I wonder how the birds survive these conditions, but I see them out on the feeder like clockwork.

Good for you! Real men break masts. (I look for the affirmation in gear destruction.) You might try ringing up whoever the Nolimtz dealer in OBX is...they may have the half you need. I've got the top of a Fiberspar 460 race mast...that's about it.

On Eastern Long Island I sailed a 3.4 Saturday and 4.0 Sunday, before dinging my foot. Not broken (I don't think) but definately not ready for the water. Maybe by next weekend!

Thanks for your encouraging words about real men! I felt real foolish, but these macho thoughts help. And time heals all egos.

It sounds like you guys were on it in VA and LI. I'm looking forward to warmer weather but I'm not looking forward to tamer sailing. I love these winter storms, small sails & boards, big wind & waves, big wipe outs. I just have to break the bottom half of my mast next time.

I hope the foot recovers quickly.
