Looks like the forecast is holding up and a decent (and not too threatening) swell. No rain in the forecast either, if anyone wants to camp.
SAT...NW WINDS 15 TO 20 KT INCREASING TO 20 TO 30 KT IN THE AFTERNOON WITH GUSTS TO 35 KT. COMBINED SEAS 7 TO 9 FT DOMINANT PERIOD 16 SECONDS.
Maybe even Sunday:
SUN...NW TO N WINDS 20 TO 25 KT WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS TO 35 KT. COMBINED SEAS 9 TO 11 FT.
Hope to see some new faces!

What do you think surf size will be? Head high, logo? Has anyone been sailing there recently?

Kevin I will be there on Sat. The swell looks way better on Sun but the wind might turn too much N and spoil the fun... If it stays NW though, Sun will be super.

I would guess the surf would be between head and logo. Jalama picks up all swell directions. There's a building WNW swell and a southern hemi. Should be fun!!
Hasn't been enough wind in the recent past, Last sailed there in Dec, but I may have missed a few days here and there since. Seems like this weekend is a different story!!
See ya up there !!!

I heard this south is supposed to get pretty solid on Saturday and the wind might turn too onshore for Jalama to be surfable. We should all go to Leo Carillo since it might be the first good south swell day of the year there.
Plus if you haven't been to Jalama in the past week you are in for a very big suprise as access to the beach is pretty limited due to the large surf and heavy rain in the last weeks. I rode there monday in 15-25Kt side-off and 15-18ft surf until I saw nearly an entire Eucalyptus tree crash in a wave and called it a day. The beach is also ridden with obstacles (trees, rocks, locals...) severely limiting access.
For you newcomers, if you have never been to Jalama be sure to bring your helmet...and maybe a lifejacket.

More Jalama comments:
Jalama is not a good tow-in spot. Even on small days there is no channel to run out through. Silly really to think of the J as a spot to tow into as it's just not a great break for that.
Jalama on a south is not so good. DTL results in sailing into closed out sections. Much better on a NW swell as then you have a chance for some DTL turns.
Jalama is a great jumping spot for those so inclined.
Hopefully we'll have some sand back tomorrow as it looks like the only game around. No doubt the big winter storms really scourer the sand out but it comes back pretty quickly.
For sure Leo is a better choice for a south if it's windy...
Mike

Mitch is on it. Last I heard, Eddy is in town, meaning no wind south of Jalama.
Why does hunwil seem to be trying to scare people away?
Cool- no wind on that day the pics were taken. Crazy waves, though!!!
Look at Iwindsurf's and Noaa's forecast. Everything is saying it should be good.
