|
|
We've all heard about the proposed CA park closings due to the Gov's new budget. Several of these closings really could happen and if they did they would effect us negatively in many ways. Currently, various outdoor interest groups are sending emails & letters regarding the parks they care most about. Windsurfers and kiteboarders should do the same. Here's a quick way to speak up:
SEE map of proposed closures:

EMAIL your CA state representatives to ask them to protect the parks most important to you:

What a fine job that idiot Arnold has done in running the state.
Anyway regarding writing to my representative about the parks....I don't think I'll waste my time.
The Park closest to me is Topanga State Park.
The ass holes wont let me ride my mountain bike with my (very very well trained) dog on a leash. They say that he will disturb the wildlife.
Yet at the same time they let horse riders in.
The main thing that disrupts the wild life are the dropping (poop).
This sort of marks the area as territorial and forces some species away.
So these idiot park authorities let horses in that leave poop trails all over the place. So they have alowed the rich horse riders in while these are the rich that with all their lovely tax cuts have resulted in this deficit.
I hope they close the damn park. No more staff to keep me out.

Come on FredBBG, you must understand the behavior differences between dogs and horses, irrespective of their feces. Dogs have an outstanding sense of smell, and not all breeds are low key in nature running about affecting wildlife.
People, and their dogs. How often extremely tedious and dangerous for others. While some folks have good control over their dogs, unfortunately many others don't. The classic sense of being incredibly irresponsible.
Have you ever been attacked by a dog, just as a pedestrian walking down a wide public sidewalk? Believe me, I was terrified when it happened to me in the 70s. The dog bit me, in an area that would catch any man's attention, but luckly it was only though my Levis.
That dog should be off the planet in my book. And frankly, the owner should have really joined him for being so stupid about his pet.

I've seen the appeals to "give input to your elected official" from a few mountain bike groups and also general-purpose environmental-type groups.
From what it sounds like, the public input that comes in is being taken seriously.
