There was a beached juvenile harbor seal at the bottom of the staircase at Leo on Sunday. Apparently a kayaker had notified animal rescue before I got there and they showed up when we were done sailing. They also rescued a large seal from Paradise Cove. These folks gave me a pamphlet with contact info for any future rescues, so I wanted to pass that info along to other sailors in case you run into an animal that needs rescue. I felt pretty helpless not knowing who to call to help this seal out. It was shivering and pretty stressed. It's probably a good idea to store the hotline number in your cell phone. See info below.

If it's any consolation to those concerned, the seal looked in better shape than I did getting out of the water from sailing. Embarassed

Cheers!
Mitch

Good on you for sharing the info...
A year or so ago I rescued a pregnant seal at Port Hueneme.
After driving around like an idiot I got lucky and found someone at the Wildlife center in Malibu Canyon.... luckily a girl from the San Pedro marine wildlife rescue center was visiting....
Anyway she had her pups and all three were released once she was better Very Happy

Good ending. I hate to ask how you knew the seal was pregnant.
The Wildlife Center you went to is the same one that these folks work out of, off of Malibu Canyon Road near Piuma. You ended up at the right spot.
How come you never handed out cigars??? Laughing
