The south bowl and the lines below chair 1 were sick. So good I almost forgot I haven't sailed in the last 3 weeks. Best part was that even thought the parking lot was packed and there was a long wait at every chair, there was still plenty of fresh powder in the south bowl and chair 1. I guess most people who ski there are intermediates and most of the expert skiers go to Mammoth?
With snow like that who needs political discourse? |
It always amuses me this NorCal vs. SoCal thing.
I'm originally from LA and have lived in SF since '93... the skiing and snowboarding up here are way better than in LA. Sure, Mt. Baldy may only be 60 miles away from Santa Monica, but SoCal resorts are so small compared to the ones in Tahoe. Mammoth, on the other hand, truly rocks... I love that place... but using Mt. Baldy as a reason why SoCal is so much better than NorCal? LOL
LA definitely has better weather, and despite a not so great reputation for wind, I actually find it to be pretty good in that respect... but not as good as SF... not even close. Your traffic is also not substantially worse than ours... everybody complains about the 405 and LA traffic... man, the bridges up here just suck! I mean, I can be stuck in traffic on the freakin' bridge at 10pm on a Sunday night for no good reason! ...and girls are generally hotter in LA than SF.
OK, I have no idea why I posted this... All this rain and the flu are driving me insane... |

OK gang, THE best ski day of the year comes up next Sunday... you got it ,SUPER BOWL Sunday! I'm scheming on either a Sat/ Sun at Mammoth or a day locally, any players? I have friends at Mammoth who could hook a few of us up with low-buck accomodations if we let them know ASAP. The usual Bull M.O. is a departure Friday night around 8:00 PM, arriving in Mammoth around 12:30AM, weather permitting, and then a return Sunday leaving around 3:00 PM and getting in about 8:00 PM. Like I say, Mammoth is tenative and based on interest and accomodations availability, but the local thing is a definite backup plan, and Baldy is the probable destination. Give me a headcount and we'll see what we can do. SKI,Bull |

Sorry, next weekend I'm away at a conference. Should be a good weekend for Mammoth, the forecast looks like snow most of the week. Have fun. |
