I went out around mid day on pleasure bay. I was happy to get out on the water, but every time i sail there i am frustrated that it is so unstable out of the North.
I talked to someone at pleasure bay that mentioned a Hingham site that he thought would be pretty good. Based on what he said i am guessing this link points to the public access ramp on Houghs Neck that he described.

Has anyone sailed there with any luck? Seems like this would have been much more stable than pleasure bay and just as safe for a high wind day. |

The link points to the site "Parkhurst Beach" on Houghs Neck (West side of the point, not the same as Public Landing which is on the East side). Launch is into Quincy Bay. From personal experience Parkhurst works well in SW, W, NW, N, only so-so in NE, poor in S and SE. Pay attention to tides, as dead low tide can be unsailable for a distance of 100 yds offshore. |

The ramp in your second link is the "Public Landing" on the east side of Hough's Neck. I've never seen anyone launching there, though some folks do sail the east side farther south in the area of Rock Island Cove... better exposure for E, NE than Parkhurst Beach. |

The Hingham site I mentioned is at the end of Bel Air Dr. A windsurfer named Patrick lives there. There's no public parking but it is much better for N-NW winds. Another windsurfer has access to parking in the neighborhood as well. The sailing is between Crow Point and Grape Island and State Island. Patrick would like to have more people sail there. Parking is the main issue. |
