Hey everyone!
My first windsurfing video attempt, using footage shot at Ponquogue (Eastern LI) earlier this month:

Hopefully we can get shots of more wave sailors next time... Enjoy!

It's a fine video. In particular it's good to watch for anyone wondering what "real world" Long Island wave sailing looks like. LI has many wave looks, but this is definately one of the typical ones.

Nice video! I added it to my favorites. It makes me wish I was out there in the waves. Your camera seems pretty steady for the distance shots. Did you have it on a tripod?

Hey Scooper, thanks! A tripod was a definite necessity, esp for the 18X zoom shots. Plus it helps that my videographer/girlfriend has a steady hand.
BTW, great blog, way to keep it updated! I added it to my RSS feeds.
Cheers,
Jeff

Hey! Nice forum and video. I'm from Long Beach. So if I make it out there, Ponquogue Beach is the place? If you are ever near Brooklyn...Plumbbeach is the place off the Belt Pkway on the way back after Knapp st. exit. Here is my new forum.(the sharks are fake!)

That's true about real wave sailing conditions. It's not much different here in Jersey along the coast line.
Check out www.njwindsurfing.info for some videos for wave sailing and more in New Jersey.

There are dozens of sailing locations on the east end...for wave sailing check out Cupsogue, Tiana and The Bowl in addition to Ponquogue (and if it's blowing hard NE try Gardiners Bay north of Napeague.) On Westerlies Sebonac Inlet goes off! Check out dozens of Long Island windsurfing launches on The Long Island Windsurfing Map:

If you have a place to add to the map, you can do so directly or leave a note on my blog (which is where this thing is.) Plumb Beach is on there, btw.
