Also, if you go to the very end of the road past Marina Bay, there is a second park that works in low or high tide. It's a nice grassy park with restrooms and a sandy beach with some small rocks to launch from. Sometimes if the wind is light inside at Marina Bay, but the tide is high and choppy, it's hard to waterstart and get out of the little wind-hole there. The next park over doesn't have that problem. Plus, if you like really flat water, you're pretty close to the speed run inside the sandbar off Brooks Island.

Coming from the freeway "maze" of 980/580/80/101 the closest spot is Emeryville. Nice grass launch. Take Powell Street to the very end. Ramp is next to the breakwater. Puts you due south of the Berkeley.

Candlestick can be a lot of fun, but it is not a place you want to be loitering about, especially once the sun starts to set. I'm always a little nervous about leaving my car parked there while out on the water.
Palo Alto can be fun, but you need to worry about tides there. I would say that you need at least 3 feet of water on the tide charts to sail that place comfortably. |

| Good that tide issue at Marina Bay was noted. I'd not try to launch there at lower than +2ft. In addition, there is at least one sand bar lurking few hundred yards offshore which I managed to slam into at full speed - but with fairly large fin. David |

you should thank the Maurice, the Emeryville City Engineer who put in that excellent ramp. It's also just a nice place to haul out for a drink of water and a rest.  |

That's right, Maurice did a great job pushing this forward. It's really cool that the E. City Engineer is also a windsurfer! Now if we could have a city engineer/windsurfer working for all the cities with access to the bay... |

| Take a look at today for example . There has been a lot of 25 average with gusts to 40 days this year . It has not been very flat in the middle. Sherman and the Coast have had much more even wind. |
