Your new " semi local" spot will be a little piece of paradise called Arroyo Laguna. It on the 1 north of Morro Bay, just past Hearst Castle.
I windsurf has a sensor a few miles north of it at Piedras Blancas.
Nice wave at the beach and there is also a sort of reel/ledge about a mile out that can kick up some really nice gentle giants.
A month ago I had my best big wave session out on the reef/ledge. I won't say how big, because I'm still pinching myself to see if I was dreaming.
You also have Lake Lopez. Very reliable wind produced by a local thermal.
I'd say you'll be a happy windsurfer down in San Luis Obisbo.
Pismo BEach can b great too... tons of waves though to eat your gear.
STAY AWAY from Surf Beach at Lompoc. Deadly currents , (riptides wider than a football field) and monster surf can come up really quick...I call it death beach
Welcome to California. You'll need plenty of sunscreen, but you can trade in all those rain umbrellas for it   |

| Fred - Everytime I go by Pismo beach it is windy but I never see any sails or kites. Where do people launch from? Have you ever seen ol' whitey while sailing Arroyo Laguna? |

Depends on how much you weigh, of course. But plan on ALL types of conditions, from light wind lake sailing at Lake Lopez to nuking, gorge-like wind with mast high or bigger waves.
Where you're moving to has it all! Way better than the Gorge!!!! |
