I've hauled out there twice just for a rest stop and a drink of water. Nice spot...I would definitely launch there if I lived south of Emeryville. The seaweed can be a little slippery.

yes, SWELL in berkeley, maybe it was the ebb tide. in any case we had rolling, breaking waves that you could prob. catch on a surfboard. it seems these conditions are quite common in berkeley with a 24+ breeze.

hey.....any tips for staying in control in the berkeley chop? my naish titan 111 seems to get pumelled by it. need some suspension! mast track all the way forward maybe?

chibi, try a smaller fin and better stance/technique. Or smaller board. Gotta go, it picked up again!

Wow, grassy area, showers, and a cobblestone path! sounds like some big improvements have occurred since Emeryville was my primary launch (about 5 years ago). I'm now in Kailua. It's similar in some ways to the East Bay - light to moderate onshore winds, but has warm, clean water and year-round sailing conditions.

Aloha to all the old timers - Dave & Lori Richardson

Yes definatly much smaller board, 111L is a tank. You'll find it's much easier and fun in solid wind, once you're used to a smaller board.

Launched from Emeryville yesterday and it was great except the bottom of the stone path was super slippery. Not a beginner spot since there's a boat channel right there and you have to be pretty precise coming back to the launch since it's only about 6 feet wide.

Sailed way out pass the old broken docks and the swells were nice but it was spooky with the fog rolling in and the fact that I was the only one out there Shocked

Anyway thanks for sharing Brett.
