I've sailed from that spot in EPA off of the frontage road on the north side of the Dumbarton Bridge. Back in the 'good ole days'. Like syringes laying on the beach ? If so, that spot is you.

Small world... Rod and I sailed there yesterday.
I parked in the lot, did a Doug's Beach type gear wrap and hiked over the mtn. Why not; pre-sail warm up. Rod's method easier, but might risk ticketing and of issues with walkers(?)
BTW, needs usual NNW-NW at minimum and tide in. Was a little iffy getting out/in yesterday for me, but wind seemed more WNW at launch and Rod kinda shlogged out a bit on and off, but was then wayyy out, real quick. Nice little session. But...ooops...I meant, 'it's terrible there'

Why not just use the old 3rd launch? I don't want to make it too popular, but you park right next to where you rig. You're right at the launch. And, the best swell in the whole bay is close to the "S&M" bridge -- long, well-formed, and consistent, a straight reach from the that launch.

Yep, but I just recently pulled the walk of shame to there from the bridge (long story) and I go barefoot. The nettles there are brutal. Similar reach to the channel from there though...feels the same anyway... But yeah...I like the convenience, but was up for something new anyway.

See you out there.

Rod,

Could not find interactive stuff online, only raster.
The above is a free download, though.

NOAA Electronic Navigation Charts:
http://chartmaker.noaa.gov/mcd/enc/download.htm

Map above:
18651 San Francisco Bay Southern Part

Other of SF Bay interest:
18649 Entrance To San Francisco Bay
18650 San Francisco Bay Candlestick Point to Angel Island

Free viewer software:
http://www.fugawi.com/web/products/fugawi_view_enc.htm

Pretty cool clicking on wrecks and nav aids and see the details.
