I will be in Southeastern P.A. from August to early Sept. Is there any place to rent equipment in N.J.? What's the wind like that time of year, Formula? better?? I see that there are sensors up and down the coast, are all the launches on the ocean side? Or are there some flat-water lauches as well.
Thanks all |

sounds like your best bet would be extremewindsurfing.com in west atlantic city. located behind the hampton inn on lakes bay.
can get some real good sw thermal action. they have rental gear. a whole shop on the water. i'm pretty sure this is the only place you can rent gear in nj. i usually sail farther north, but make it down there a couple of times a year. have had some pretty solid days there. hope you find some wind.

NJ has some great sailing on both the ocean and bay (flat water/bump and jump). There's a string of barrier island along the Jersey coast which form a shallow but wide bay to the west for great speed sailing and bump and jump conditions. The islands are about a half mile wide and there's also nice ocean sailing when the wind is out of the south or northeast. Check out Island Surf and Sail at 609-494-5553 for rental gear and guidance on good spots near their shop (they're located on Long Beach Island which has really good ocean and bayside sailing with some of the most consistent conditions). It's blowing a steady 18-23 knts right now. Definitely line up some gear and make the trip out and obviously check the iwindsurf forecast.

Depending on where you are in S.E. PA, you may want to stop in to Ebb Tide Windsurfing, located in Montgomeryville, PA (outside of Philly), they can fill you in on the PA/NJ sailing scene.
There are a ton of good ocean and bay spots in jersey, and good lake sailing in PA if you're open to it. As others have said, look for SW thermals, which are common in the summer at the shore. But really, we can get the whole range of conditions from formula down to 4.0 or smaller.
