Hello,
we are heading up to west dennis this weekend to hopefully get some sailing in. we have been there a few times and it really is a nice place when the winds are onshore or sideon (S, SE, SW). what options are in the area for when the winds are Northerly or NE (Ofshore)? we tool a look at chapin a few weeks ago but the parking lot looks tiny and the walk at low tide is very far out with gear. is kalmus an option in northerlies? thanks for the help.

cheers

Paul

You can sail at kalmus in NE or N direction. Go to the
other side of the bath house. But I'm not sure if they
let you sail , on season, ask at the gate, before you pay.
The best option in a northly is Chapin, if the tide is out
go to Mayflower, you'll see the sign as your driving
to Chapin. Mayflower may be closed as well.
Another Northly option is Pleasant Bay, Chatham.
Look on a map, I think iwindsurf has directions also.
Pleasant Bay will be flat water, as will Kalmus.

flaherty is right. You can also sail Buzzard's Bay in Northerly winds. I don't like Nantucket sound in an off shore as your risk of getting lost at sea is greater than the Vineyard sound or B. Bay.
