Lost track of my post a few months ago regarding dirt biking(moto) near Hood River. I'll be there with family last 2wks of July, would like to ride with locals who know the area. Have two young riders and me 55yr dad type not looking to become an orphan. open to suggestions.

Have you Googled such words as ORV ATV Oregon Washington? After wading through the environmentalist crap, you'll find a lot of useful information, from discussions to maps, on trails and parks available to ORVs.

Yup. Did you ever make that biking/sailing trip to the SW, or is this July trip it?

Seadawg, drop me a message when you get here. I can steer you in the right direction. Note that all the riding areas on the Oregon side of the river will be closed for fire season sometime around 4th of July, earlier(but not later) as the Fire Dept decides. Most of us have put the bikes away by then anyway, since it's just too damn hot and dusty.

You will have to go up by Mt Adams for Gorge style trail riding. It's not beginners terrain, but there is stuff that isnt too gnarly. You can also go out to Eddieville near Goldendale, which has an MX track and a GP track. It's fun if there's nothing else going on, but its an hour drive, and its hot, dusty, and rocky. Theres also the various coastal areas, tillamook state forest, sand lake, etc. They have nice moisture content and cooler temps, but are even farther away, and frequently mobbed by rednecks on atv's.

Now you guys have me thinking whether it's a good idea to bring the bikes. I'm also posting for info on TT. Over there my alias is RideOn2. My posts are located in W2R Oregon. I have some feed back that says that there will be local riding at Post Canyon but the fire threat may be high and it could be closed to moto.

I have two weeks to work with and expect to have 3-5 days dedicated to riding and don't mind driving an hour or two to get to good riding. I was hoping to find easy stuff for my 12yr old son (novice rider) not alot of stamina. One hour and he's ready to head for the barn. My 14yr old will go till he drops. The boys share a TTR125 and I have DRZ400 and YZ250F. If it's not to technical I'm OK with the 14yr old on the YZ. When it's real tight I like the TTR myself.

I will be leaving for HR from Dunkirk,NY via Int. St. 90 7 July arriving HR 14 July.

Pacspeed I'll do the PM thing. I haven't spent time PMing hear mt take a while to figure it out, try and find me at TT (Thumper Talk).
