anyone know if they have been checking for boat permits at the sailing beach? Last fall the word was no, but now that peak season is about here... wondering if I should buy them on the way in or wait and see... Confused

that way you will know for sure you've been there....

Take the high road and buy a permit. The camping is virtually free, no charge to use the lake, lake patrol rescue available, toilets and a possible fine for not having one. Don't be like the majority and skate free. Do your part. Buy a damned permit. WS

Amen. Izzy is unique for its free camping virtually steps from the water. Buy the permit!

So, what kind of permits/day use fees do you need to pay when sailing or camping here?

Just returned from the 3 day memorial weekend at Izzy and I can tell you that they are cruising but not looking for permits - more for drunken boating. For $15 you can buy a 3 day pass on a plastic tag that you can put around your mast foot, then use it on any board you select. Not much to get legal and support the clean-up effort.
