Has anyone sailed in Plymouth? I heard of a launch, Nelson St Rec Area, that is supposed to be good in NE. It is supposed to get some chop/waves but might be tidal dependent. I don't know if there is enough water to sail there at low tide or if there are any rocks etc to watch out for. The water in Duxbury/Plymouth Harbor is so muddy that you can't see anything until you hit it. It looks like it could be fun to sail upwind towards the opening to the harbor. |

Best Launch spot is in the 'sand' parking lot north of Bert's Restaurant, great in a good south easter. Brown's bank about a 2 mile reach to the north is awesome on the high tide (dries at low), a constant barrage of waist to logo high waves (depending on swell) and 100-200ft long flat stretches in between waves and a sandy bottom.
For N-NE breeze try Offshore @ Duxbury Beach (North of the town lot) or Green Harbour NE-E. |

Thanks for the input! I tried Nelson St. It was fun at low tide but no waves where I was, maybe upwind a mile or 2 to the mouth of the harbor. I'll check out these other launches. It's funny somebody saw me at Nelson St. and took a few pictures and video clips of my sailing and then sen them to me. My company name is on the side of my truck so he got my address from that. What a nice surprise that was. I didn't know abou it until the package came in the mail. |
