Does anybody have any information or any contacts regarding kiting in Puerto Vallarta in early June.
1. Where to go?
2. Does it reliably blow? And what size of kite for 200# guy?
3. Any other notable information for the first time traveler?

They were planning on having a kiteboarding contest in May, so maybe June is OK?

Aloha,

Justin

Ive been there a few times in the summer months, and the only place I've seen wind is the leeward (south) side of Pta Mita, about 1/2 hour drive north of PV proper. With a prevailing WNW, it does look like it has some potential for a nice side to side off point break, but it also looks a little fluky inside, and there was not much in the way of surf. If you get lucky and hit a south swell it's probably awesome.
Ive never seen it blowing very hard either, maybe 16 knots, which I would call 7.0, so a kiter would need at least a 12 and probably more like a 16. On the other hand, the water is warm, (polluted down by the city, avoid it!), the beer is cheap, and the scenery is tropical. Go enjoy!

Oh and dont miss the "Super Go Karts" on the way up there. East side of the freeway about 3 miles N of the airport road. Little open wheel chaos machines that do about 65 MPH! Plus they let you race wheel to wheel with your friends. Knock back a few beers in the lounge and go nuts.

Best dinner: Azadero's on Pasilla Barilla (south side of downtown)...awesome all you can eat Mexican barbecue joint...killer atmosphere, great prices. Don't eat the beans and tortillas they bring out first, they're cheap filler so you dont bankrupt them once the ribs start flying.
