Im looking at either one of these two boards in the 90-98L range. Anybody have any experience with either one?
Im trying to find a good do it all board that is slightly more wave oriented than speed or freeride. |

The RRD Twin-Tip is pretty freestyle oriented. The Swallow in the 98 liter size is pretty much a dedicated wave board for marginal conditions. The RRD Freestyle/Wave or Wave Cult boards are both much more versatile boards that should work better for you. |

I dont know if you have your heart set on RRD, but Quatro makes a killer 95ltr freestyle wave and Goya makes an awesome freestyle wave board called the ONE series in 95ltrs too. Both of these boards are great all around boards and can be used in waves and B + J conditions. Check their web sites at www.quatrointernational.com and www.GoyaBoards.com |

I have sailed at a very high level for sometime now, allowing me to test many boards. the quatro is amazing!!! you get the best of both worlds, rip a wave and flaka on the inside, no problem... The Goya is nipping at its heals (keith ,quatro, and fran ,goya, r best friends and the baords r pretty much tested by the same people) The RRD is a really good freestyle board and would probably be my go to board on flat days. |

ive had a wave swallow 88 for a couple of seasons - I bought it used. great board. i use it for my light-wind sailing (that means 5.2-5.6, 12-16 knots. ive had it out in waves mast-high plus - it doesnt slash as tight as my smaller wave boards, but it doesnt bounce around too much either, and it does get me out there when the other option would be sitting o the beach and wishing I was out there. it works best on a slow crumbly wave - a fast hollow wave can get kind of scary on tbis board, if it has any size. but its definitely a wave board, with a nice positive bottom turn (but not very tight) and a very dialable top turn - everything from sharp cutback to rail-slide. it jumps great - surprisingly light for a board of this volume, with nice projection off the wide swallow tail, nice control in the air for back loops. i did take the little thruster fins off - they just slowed the board down, without seeming to do anything useful. Another thing: the nose developed a transverse crease, a sign that the board was shaped from butted foam pieces instead of a single-piece foam blank. Thats a little cheap... but other tha for the unsightly crease, no effect on performance. anyway I like the board. |
