Ive got a bic with a stuck fin. The board wasnt used for a year or so, and the sand and salt seems to have turned to cement. Anyone had any experience with this? Its a nice fin stuck in the box, so Id like to get it out without wrecking the fin. Hammering a nail into the screw hole in the back of the board seems like a invitation for the fin to splinter. Tugging on the fin has gotten nowhere. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks in advance

Soak in fresh water to dissolve the salt. May take a while. Havent tried it with fins but works for stuck zippers.

Get the finbox soaking wet. Then put a piece of soft wood against the trailing edge of the fin near the tip (pad the wood so the fin doesnt get damaged). Tap it FORWARD with the rubber mallet or hammer.

yEAH Rubber mallet or reg hammer with block of soft wood (reg 2x4 material) just inch or so down from tip of fin. Give it a good whack.

Its a Bic trimbox, you need to tap it towards the front of the board, not back! Remember, theres a tab on the front of the fin.
Put some towels down so the fin doesnt hit the board.
