Im going to be working on a project in Neskowin in April and May this year. Can anyone suggest places to sail near there? What kind of conditions should I expect?

Check out the Yahoo group PDXwindsurfer - they have compiled some good info about sailing spots on the Oregon coast. http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/PDXwindsurfer/

Roads End Park (North of the Casino) is the most popular launch in Lincoln City. It has grassy rigging and a short walk across the sand to the water. The summer winds are usually side-onshore (4.5 - 6.0) and the waves are pretty choppy. There is talk of sailing nelscott reef this spring/summer.

Roads End is your spot. I have a house there and sail it regularly. Actually some of the best wave sailing on the coast. Wind a bit lighter right at the park area. Walk upwind 300-400 yards and it makes all the differnce. If it is windy to the north Oceanside can be great (45min drive). Roads End closes out at around 10-12 feet and that can be another reason to head up to Oceanside. If wind is to the south head to Newport or even better is Neptune State Park. Expect to be sailing alone the majority of the time. Currents at Roads End friendly until it gets big (8-12 feet) but even then the rips are usually limited.
