There are lots of places to stay that would accomodate your family. Try windance.com, info source, links, Gorge info for sources.

The baby doesnt care where s/he sleeps, and if the wife cares where she sleeps, get her into WSing and shell change her tune.

Unless you have an RV to park at the beach, I would suggest leaving the wife and kid in a nice rental unit while you go sailing. Most of the Gorge launch sites will get really boring after an hour if you arent sailing. I would suggest renting a condo or house within walking distance to downtown HR so the wife can entertain herself while you take the car and go sailing.

Hilton is absolutely right. Downtown HR is the only place to be for the non-wsing spouse. A condo at The Lodge (7th and Cascade St.) is less than 4 blocks walk to kid friendly toy stores, ice cream and candy shops, a few museums, parks, cofee shops, etc.
Isobars advice will leave you with serious marital discord way the fork out in the desert with a pod wife and child and sand in your shorts.

Good luck trying to get her into w.s.ing. It only works if she wants to. Even then I would suggest professional lessons in a nice warm place. Unless theyre real outdoor gals, most will care where they sleep, and especially where the baby sleeps.

I know MANY non-sailing wives, including those with little kids, who seem to love lounging on shore while their guy shreds. While the advice to get a condo near HR and abandon the family is appropriate with some spouses, it stereotypes LooPloops wife as a high-maintenance princess. Only LooPloop knows the facts.

Typically the wind is too strong and the water too choppy for a two year old. But maybe you have a prodigy on your hands.
