True, but that doesn't tell the whole story. The murder rates for 2020 and 2021 were the highest in the last 20 years. Look at:

Techno

Yes. COVID spike.

There will be up and down spikes. Overall, violent crime is way down.

The narrative that the “blue cities” are failing is just not true. Crime is going down, fentanyl use is nationwide…not just a Blue city issue as Malibu likes to assert.

Anyone who watches right wing media gets a rather warped view of reality. Or maybe Techno got pinged to ignore today’s news.

Quote:
The U.S. is on course to end 2023 with one of the largest annual drops in homicides on record, according to preliminary figures from AH Datalytics, a data analysis firm.

Why it matters: The findings appear to be at odds with Americans' perception of crime both in their communities and in the rest of the country.

More than three-quarters (77%) of Americans believe crime has increased in the U.S. since last year, according to a Gallup survey of 1,009 adults released last month.
A majority (55%) also said crime was rising in their local area.
"Both figures are similar to what Gallup measured last year and rank among the most pessimistic readings in the respective trends," the company said.

Now Fox, and Malibuvian, will blame the rise on Biden and ignore the drop. Few will actually realize that murder rates have little or nothing to do with National or State governments. Fewer still will check real data, or understand that 4 of the 5 states with the highest murder rates are in the south.

Violent crime spiked during COVID. Pandemics cause stress. People respond to stress in many ways including violence. The COVID violence spike is well documented. “So covid deaths were murder” is why I quit this forum for six months. Bye.

Coboardhead,

Illiteracy is a terrible thing, but in Techno's case we have a Catch 22. How do you communicate to someone who can't comprehend what you write?

Wow, Only those afflicted can fix paranoid, too lazy to check facts, and biased. But I doubt any of the bozos have adopted such resolutions for their new year.

Take heart, there are mental health professionals who can help you!
