I bought a Starboard Kode a couple of years ago. It always felt heavy to me. I don't think it had any water in it. Did not like the board. I set it up for tri fin . Weight may not be an issue, but to me lighter boards, feel livelier, jump better, just seem more fun to sail. Same as sails, masts, booms. Lighter is better.

There are only 2 places I care about board weight. The foremost is a
long carry to the beach. The other is when I'm already in the air.

My 16.5 and 20 lb Open Oceans are just dandy, but like I said life is too
short to perseverate over a board that you feel is too heavy.

Yes I happen to carry my gear to the beach and back. So it's definitely welcome!

Just checked the center of gravity of the waterlogged naked board. It's right at the edge of the front pads.

Funnily enough, the center of gravity of my other fully equipped boards is actually ahead of the front pads by a few inches or 10-15cms and that is with straps and fin installed! Only my quad is a bit farther back right at the edge of the front pads.

My basic deduction is that there's about as much water left over as the straps and fin/fins weigh! (which matches the 2lbs)

And again the only leak I found this time was from the hole I did back then right at the tail.

The scientist in me would like to find some logic.

If the water came in then why doesn't it want to come out this time like it did last time?

Finally received a replacement! 6.1/6.2kg naked, 6,7kg fully equipped.... aaaah so nice to ride a light board wow! Plus it's wide and planes easily.

A 2014 Goya One in 85L. I test lifted a 2018 96L and it felt pretty light too. Now onto long term durability!
