Roosevelt is posted as "open" on the US Army Corps of Engineers Portland District website - we are good to go unless that changes.

Anyway, the rangers made no attempt to ask windsurfers to leave. It's open, people - don't let Iso scare you off. |

"But, your honor, some dude from Florida told us on the internet that it's OK to ignore the official onsite signs the head ranger for that district rubbed my nose in."
It's your call, until violations extend its closure. Let's hope the Corps, their rangers, Temira, and the public can agree on something soon, and that it's favorable for us.
Letting recreational fishermen but not sailors use the park is bogus on steroids and will not make their case any stronger. |

What are you talking about U2? No one is going to be arrested fer chrissakes!! The Army Corps just updated their website yesterday to specifically add the language I quoted above. If you don't believe me, click on that link. Why the hell do you think they would do that, if these sites are actually supposed to be closed?
For all of us who read these forums for actual, useful information, and who in any case would much prefer to be out on the water, let's give thanks that the best launches in the eastern gorge are now all open! All we need is some figgin ' wind |

Why must you waste everybody's time by hijacking a topic? I posted a perfectly valid and useful bit of information concerning the planned reopening tomorrow of our much loved launches at the Wall and at Rufus. And for some reason you are flooding the zone with totally irrelevant bullshit. This has nothing whatever to do with the railroads, and for that matter I have never posted anything remotely pertaining to trespassing on RR property or illegally crossing the tracks, etc. Just go back under your rock. |

The Corps is much more likely to ban a repeat offender from their parks than arrest him. The former doesn't require court action, just a pissed-off ranger ... and until they get their act together, the rangers go by the posted signage.
We could debate the difference between ban and arrest 'til the cows come home, or we could just avoid stomping on their toes in the first place.
"Yer Honor, could I serve my sentence in December, after the water gets too cold to care? ... NO? ... Well, FU2."
"Oops. Did I say that out loud, your honor?" |
