MalibuGuru wrote: | The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency sent a sternly worded letter to California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday, demanding he take immediate steps to address problems with dirty water in the state, many of which it claimed were associated with homelessness in San Francisco.
The letter takes issue with California’s purported failure to deal with several cases of water pollution, from the discharge of cyanide in Marin County to emissions of the cancer-causing chemical indeno in Los Angeles to degraded water supplies in scores of rural communities. But the most repeated concern is the condition of big-city streets, with the EPA even calling out the “piles of human feces” in San Francisco. |
I’ve known from day 1 that the Wheeler letter was a pile of crap. You can now read the response.

Pile of crap?
From the posted story:
Quote: | As far as the state’s alleged violations, the CEPA wrote that the state’s water resources control board had already reduced by more than half the number of water facilities that were not in compliance with the Clean Water Act. Further, the state agency said that three of the violation examples highlighted in the EPA’s letter were actually not violations at all. In one instance, the state said the level of cyanide reported as being more than 5,000% above the allowable limit in one water district was a mistake based on incorrect data. And a carcinogen found in excessive levels in Los Angeles’ water was tied to the occurrence of wildfires. |
Seems that Calif did have a problem, but were working on it. One issue was a mistake, apparently by Calif providing incorrect data, plus wildfires creating another problem, but still resulted in carcinogens in LA's water. Bottom line is that there was/is pollution above acceptable standards in Calif's water supply, some of which is apparently crap.
Mac would have you believe there were no problems, which is BS. |

Explosion in Antarctic sea ice levels may cause another ice ageUpside-down "rivers" of warm ocean water may be one of the causes of Antarctica's ice shelves breaking up, leading to a rise in sea levels. But a new study suggests an increase in sea ice in a colder climate may lead to a much more devastating change in the Earth's climate — another ice age.Using computer simulations, the research suggests that an increase in sea ice could significantly alter the circulation of the ocean, ultimately leading to a reverse greenhouse effect as carbon dioxide levels in the ocean increase and levels in the air decrease.“One key question in the field is still what caused the Earth to periodically cycle in and out of ice ages,” University of Chicago professor and the study's co-author, Malte Jansen, said in a statement. “We are pretty confident that the carbon balance between the atmosphere and ocean must have changed, but we don’t quite know how or why." |

As is often the case, a "conservative" posts an unattributed factoid that has been sent to them by a right wing news gleaner. It is posted without context.
In this case, you can find a press account of this work here: https://news.uchicago.edu/story/antarctic-sea-ice-key-triggering-ice-ages-study-finds
To provide a context, Alice Marzocchi has studied past ice ages, not current atmospheric changes in CO2 levels. From the article:
Quote: | Their model simulates a past Earth, showing how the increase in Antarctic sea ice in colder past climates may have triggered a waterfall of changes that could have contributed to tipping the global climate into glacial periods |
Interesting--but it has nothing to do with current warming. |

An explosion out of MalibuGuru’s ass may cause yet another stench. Upside-down "rivers" of warm diarrhea may be one of the causes of the extreme stench from around his residence, leading to a lowering of property values. But a new study suggests an increase in MalibuGuru’s solid bowel movements may lead to a much more devastating change — the complete breakdown of the local sewer system. Using computer simulations, the research suggests that an increase in solid bowel movements could significantly alter the functioning of the local sewer system, ultimately leading to compete evacuation (no pun intended) of the entire state.“One key question in the field is still what caused MalibuGuru to periodically cycle in and out of diarrhea and solids,” University of Chicago professor and the study's co-author, Malte Jansen, said in a statement. “We are pretty confident that the balance between diarrhea the solids must have changed, but we don’t quite know how or why. We need to study his diet more carefully" |

So Venice has flooded again, but not record reaching like it did back in 1966, before global warming was a political thing, we were entering a different political thing back then of a new ice age. I hope the water isn't too cold. |
