Hi Gang,

Update Friday morning 7:40 AM. There is an amazing battle going on just west of the Bay Area between the eddies southerly winds and the North Pacific High's surface NW winds. Watch it unfold in this animation:

https://blog.weatherflow.com/west-coast-wind-blog-battle-royale-north-pacific-highs-surface-nw-winds-vs-southerly-eddy-winds/

From yesterday:
if a bunch of variables align just right over the next 24 hours we see solid NW coast winds and strong winds for much of the Bay Area from Treasure Island southward tomorrow.

Check out this blog:

This is an especially tricky forecast since we move right back to an eddy pattern Saturday and this is NOT an NW clearing wind event.

Gotta adapt.
I was one of the Palo crew, when NW dominates into July.
But cyclic, gotta go where the wind goes.
5.0 and 85 liter today at Berk. Came in after my 30th jump.

Hi Gang,

Now at 5:47 PM the Bodega ocean buoy has switched from southerly eddy winds to NW and is averaging NW 25 mph while Ft. Funston is at W 17 mph. And the NW-W wind has brought the thin foggy remnants of the eddies fog over OB and part of the Crissy area. All of this suggests my forecast for tomorrow solid NW wind is on track.

About time since coast sailors are fast forgetting how to rig!

Worst spring at Crissy by far since I started sailing there 21 years ago. Enough wind to kite and windsurf foil on first half of bay. Short board winds on other side for those with the fortitude to either shlog there or launch down the rocks in Marin.

Thank god my friends turned me on to mountain biking.

Worst in my 33 years of sailing Crissy and the West Bay: my beloved IBIS HD3 saw a lot of action this spring! Very Happy
