The title may be a bit of an overstatement but it captures the flavor of the 2018 San Francisco Bay Area kite and windsurfing season at the 2 sites that suffered and benefitted the most: 3rd. Ave. and Pt. Isabel.
Of course, both had periods of epic winds and lame winds but both had winds there were, on the average, better at Pt. Isabel and worse at 3rd. And actually many locations had winds that departed from the norm but these 2 sites were the clearest winners and losers.
This blog roughs out why it was such an unusual season:
I might mention that Pt. Isabel was a winner in another way. An incredible renovation by the Eastshore General Park District is now underway at Pt. Isabel which will really benefit all water users at that site. This renovation includes dedicated water access, dedicated rigging areas, 30 new parking places, shoreline improvements. And all this was largely due to the work of a large group of local windsurfers.
