I sailed the Cult 50 when I was in Maui about a month back. I liked it. Pretty easy to get going, fast, nice in the waves. I own a MPE 258 and love that.
The Cult is pretty high performance: low volume tail, thin/sharp rails, not a ton of rocker or vee for a wave board. With that said, I have a feeling that you might surprisingly find yourself slightly overboarded sooner than you thought on the 255. However, its that same shape that also makes it fun as hell. Id bet its only a minor issue in OPd 4.5 and below.
Basically it just depends on what conditions your looking to use it in. If I were going to use it in sizeable waves Id think more about the MPE especially if I wanted something in the 80+ ltr range and was going to do significant wavesailing. Hope that helps.
