You have never sailed with foiler who has as much experience at foiling as you have with windsurfing.

Great observation! Nothing to do with sail size, but great observation!

Strong wind yesterday afternoon (1-9-1 at 3rd Ave. Dmitry 4.2m non-foil early afternoon, me 4.5 and John 5.4 mid-afternoon till sunset, fast orange board dude on Goya sail, unknown size. That was the turnout, oh and only a couple of kiters.
Was somewhat gusty wind, 20-30 mph range. Air was mild, no rain at 3rd, although apparently raining in East Bay. Wind waves a little confused, but not a complete chop fest, so some organized swell here and there.
Not your grand daddy's winter sailing, pretty mild air and water temps. January is the new June apparently.

Day 1 for the 2018 season with the SFO wind only at 13 mph most of the afternoon. 5 foilers and 1 windsurfer out. 3 foilers were on 7.5 cambered sails with F4 foils ( Dan, Chris R, and one other), Dmitry on 3.7 with his homemade design and I went 5.0 Volt with the Slingshot. I took flight once I got a gust 100 meters out and flew out about 4 miles towards the channel..nice ride while working out the winter kinks.
I've decided not to go under the knife to replace the knee for another year as it may mess up my season..I'll wait till I get real old and retire from sailing

Went out again after previous post, on 86 liters in 20 to 28 mph S winds. Got 6 runs from Seabeeze shore to Lordships rocks when wind switched to pure W and dropped to -10 on my Seabreeze jibe. Nice cooling mud walk back to CAd dock.
Makes one feel alive.

Was cool to get a day in after 3 months. Jibes were excellent, jumps clean, and pumping a breeze. Mitsu was on 5.2 and we planed up the same. He's 120 and I'm 165. The 86 Tabou sunk to both knees submerged with a invisible board.
