If there's enough water I'll save on gas and foil at the local pond. Today I was on a 4.7 with the big JP superlight board. Wind increased to 18 mph by 3 pm and I probable should have rigged 4.2. Got tossed a couple of times in the gusts. |

Did anyone try sailing the thunderstorm at TI today 9/11? The wind looked good for a while! |

Several of us sailed under the dark skies with lightning going off in the South Bay. We were sailing Berkeley with 6 meter sails, so winds around 14-22mph.
Lightning started in Berkeley around 5:15, hitting the water towards Emeryville as we all scrambled out onto the docks to hopefully sail another day someday soon, maybe today. |

An absolute nukefest at TI. not Monday but the next 9/12 a small crowd of the usual gluttons. I was overpowered on a 4.7 whereas I've been sailing a 5.7 and 5.3 nearly every day this year. Abnormal north wind direction had everyone "disrupted". Super smooth rollers off the north west corner, as sometimes happens on a flood. |

Interesting bad day at Berkeley on Sat......
Rigged 6 meters and 95, watched it die right at 3, slog out anyways and find I can barely plane but keep spinning out on a 34 Tect Mirage. One spinout caught an outside rail while hooked in, got slammed and fractured the nose of the board. Barely planed home.
Somewhere around 3:45, went back out on a 98 RRD FSW, fully powered now on a 6, for two runs, then it died again.
Around 5:20, it picked up again and g/f got close to 1.5 hours solidly planing on a 6.7 and Formula, meaning 14-20 mph breeze, but pretty solid.
I stayed dry in the car, having broken two boards the past two days, and looking towards board repair mode in my mind.
Does the wind really die at low tides in Berkeley? Evidence shows it happens at least 70% of the time. |

Six folk out today. 4.2 to 5.8. Gusty inside and stronger and more steady a half mile out and beyond.
Heard that there were nine folk out on Sunday. And that conditions were great. |

First one out at Coyote this Sunday with the wind in the low to mid teens on the inside and 17-18 out at the channel. Took flight on a 5.3 on the foil and went out to the channel markers 5 1/2 miles out. Quiet serene ride with no chop to stress out my knees which will need replacement this December (rt knee) |
