Yup, in a truly boneheaded maneuver, I nailed the sand bar above Wells
Island today going warp 4. After I recovered what was left of my wits, I
noticed my GoPro (Hero 3 Silver+) had sheared off right at the plastic connection
swivel. I wandered around the bar looking for it for a few minutes, but in
my addled state could find no trace of it. If you find it, please PM me here, and I'll make it worth your while. You'll be able to tell it's mine from the
pink lightening bolts on my board in the mast cam video on it.
Thanks,

When you get another GoPro use a leash to tie it to you helmet. And hope you don't tear your helmet off your head on you next crash. |

I actually had it leashed with something similar, but it was affixed to the
base attachment and my mast cap. The crash actually sheared off
the mount right under the waterproof case, where it meets the baseplate.
Some crashes just exceed the structural limits of the plastic. I'll look for
a better anchor somewhere on the case, but it fits the camera pretty
closely, and you don't want to be drilling into the water proof case to attach a lanyard.
