I just got my hands on a HiFly Madd 165. I bought this board to use in light wind and specifically in Hatteras with light wind. It came with 2 29cm pointer fins, but I want to put some True Ames Surfgrass fins on it. I plan on using my 7.0 Ezzy Cheetah up through my 9.0 Aerotech Freespeed. Will one set of fins do it or do I need 2 sets? I was thinking of getting a pair of 22cm True Ames Surfgrass fins and leaving it alone. Will this be enough for the 9.0?

Don't forget to consider the area of those Surfgrasses. They are labeled by length, but that doesn't consider their span. I have several brands and models of weed fins, and for a given length, such as 23 cm, my Surfgrasses are MUCH bigger fins than my other models, especially the MFC San Carlos fins. Nothing wrong with that, but we need to consider it.

I sail in OBX. ACCORDING TO MAUI ULtra FIN, MUF, the increase from a single fin TO A TWIN AREA SHOULD BE 1.33% of the area of a comparable single.

Without doing that my estimate is twins of 23--26cm.

I suggest a pair of K4, SUP RACE FINS IN 24cm, available from 4Boards in UK.

PM me if you need help.
CNC FINS, designed for Hatteras and beyond would be a great option, email Keith.

You may look for RRD twins in a similar size board, some past topics on here or google as well, lots of info / opinions.

I have to call "oopsy" on the K4 SUP fin recommendation. I'm pretty sure that Hifly Madd came with power boxes.

I just saw some great-looking, ultralight, carbon weed and regular SUP wave fins by Black Project. They were FAR less pricey that their G-10 WSing counterparts, so the shop emailed BP and asked if SUP fins made suitable WSing fins. As I suspected, they said, "No way. The foils are very different due to the speed differences." Seems incompressible fluids are very picky.

I failed to recognize that, minor detail..lol.

The shallow water Fin made for Dutch sailors will be available soon from K4.
Called Tide.

I use the K4 sup race Fin on my windsup, when planing on rare occasion, it feels just peachy.

I use a pair of 10 inch (25.4cm) Wardog Freeweed fins (same profile as the SurfGrass) on my 135L Madd. Used this combo many times in Hatteras w/ my Retro 9.0.

I weigh 185 lbs, so the 22 cm fins might be a bit small for you.
