How difficult is it to add footstraps to a bic windsup?
I know you can get the stick on ones but as it's a hard board can you do anything else? Drill and seal? Twisted Evil

I installed a mast track on my BIC.
I THINK FOR DURABILITY and STRENGTH I would install proper footstraps inserts, so router or remove the area, install with carbon and glass, use West systems epoxy. See boardlady.com for further .

Any less would be flirting with a potential failure.

The ? Would be where to,place them..? And why..?

Foot straps on non planing board are like a big spoiler on a Neon.

The SRT 4, I owned would blow the doors of most Euro sedans, the Neon was a club racer of sorts. At the time I was at my fighting weight of 135.
The Neon was my favorite color far ahead of its time, lime Neon green.

It would hold 3boards, 6masts, and ten sails, along with a weeks camping supplies. Wife, 2 Great Danes and 2sets of twins, human twins. It was destroyed in a photo shoot for Dodge when the carbon brake rotors, far ahead of its time, caught fire on the Leadville side of Independence Pass, lucky to survive, good thing I was wearing under armor, skivvies.

1. Order the footstraps, footstrap inserts, screws, epoxy (not polyester resin!), filler, and fiberglass. You will also need a sharp knife to cut back the deck pad, scissors for the glass cloth, a sharpie marker to mark the spots on the deck, probably a meter stick and angle to make sure you've got everything lined up in the right spots, etc.
2. Figure out where you want the footstraps to be based on where you put your feet when the board is planing. You might decide that you only want front footstraps- that's what I decided when I put footstraps on my Angulo windsup.
3. Cut out little chunks of the deck pad and route out the holes for the inserts.
4. Epoxy and glass the inserts in securely and glue the deck pad bits back on.
5. Install the footstraps.

Once you have all the stuff you need for the job, the job itself should only take about two hours, spread out over two days.

I would not bother to add footstraps to a Bic windSUP. You don't need the straps in marginal conditions. If it's windy and choppy enough to really need straps, you'll probably want to switch to a shortboard.

Is your Angulo windsup the carbon version? I love to add front straps to my carbon Angulo windsup but wondering if it is doable. If nothing else, foot straps make carrying board and sail in and out of water so much easier.
