So, Bert,
Where are you going to try foiling when you get yours? Shoreline Lake?
Can we come and watch? We could film some of the crashes.

Probably not Shoreline, last time I was there they were hassling me to pay the $5 launch fee and I'm as cheap as they come., except for windsurf gear.. BTW, Fed Ex just delivered my foil today. Will do Palo Alto this week as the tide is high enough. Trying to find my helmet and something that will work as an impact vest.

I got the Slingshot foil designed by Tony Logosz with the powerbox plate adapter to use on my 110 Firemove, and the flight school masts (15,24,30). I'll be foiling for most of the next few months to see if I like it. Will upgrade to better stuff next year if I'm stoked..if not, I'll mount the foil on top of my roof to pick up free TV signals Rolling Eyes

Let us know where/how you position the Power Plate/Mast on your 110 Liter Firemove. I have the same board so I'm curious after looking at the add for the Power Plate on the Windance site. I'm a wee bit larger than you, 195 lbs so I'll probably be experimenting with a Naish Freewide 130 liter, but we appreciate another foil newbie posting as they go through the learning curve.

Mounted the foil on my powerbox board. Just watched the instruction video put out by Tony Logosz and he states that the foil should only be mounted on a deep tuttle box. Windance however, implies that it'll work if the powerplate is mounted securely and your powerbox was installed properly..it's a bit of a crapshoot given that there's just a single bolt to hold everything together. Windance just put out the powerplate 6 months ago and so it's not yet time tested (PT Barnum once said that there's a sucker born every minute) Embarassed

Also, the foil is quite heavy as the mast, fuselage, powerplate are metal. The more expensive foils are all carbon and lighter.
I've mounted the 15 inch mast and will give it as spin possibly today.

Looks like a safe, logical setup for foiling fun in flatter waters, good stuff!
Should be good today, look for flat water, but it's low tide, and steady winds.

The power plate seems the right way to go, if going with just a Tuttle box you may want to consider reinforcing the deck above it. Here's a pic posted by Sam Pa'e of his SUP board's failure, not sure how it happened, lots of pumping or just hitting the bottom, but the weakness became evident. We could easily be seeing this kind of failure with WS foiling as well.

I"ve head of several tuttle box installation failures with Starboard light wind slalom and Formula boards, when trying foiling even the first time.
This is not a condemnation against Starboard, but just an observation since a lot of Starboard's are owned by a lot of windsurfer's. I own two.
Before converting a regular windsurf board for foiling, I'd add another 1" of high density foam around the whole box, add at least 6 spider legs off the sides of the high density foam, and add at least 3 layer's of carbon, or 6 layer's of fiberglass to the deck above the fin box, and two layer's of carbon on the bottom at least 6" around the finbox area.
That 40" mast applies a lot of torque when pumping onto a plane, or hitting a submerged object.
