|
|
Since moving from large beginner boards to my widestyle 120L board I always round up upon water starting. Not a little, but within a few seconds I am almost pointing into the wind. What might the problem me?
- Too much weight on my back foot?
- Sail not forward enough?
- Not enough mfp?
- Need to start out pointing a little more down wind?
Thanks,
Markj |

Both Mark and Mike (Sparky) are right. But even more basic is the fact that keeping the nose off the wind is your TOP, #1, ABSOLUTE priority. Everything else is less critical. Focus on that, ACHIEVE that just as you have described, and the rest will happen. Let the nose round up, and doing everything else perfectly will not overcome the rounding up.

Keep your front arm extended, back arm sheeting in, and a big problem might be where you place your back foot. Place your back foot a little more forward and most of all in the center of the board. As you are getting up point your toes putting more weight on the leeward rail |

Thanks everyone. Think Ive got it down. Pulling the board under me as I come up seems to be the main thing that I wasnt doing.
