|
|
Hi Gang,
After 5 years of trying to find a location and permission for a Pismo Beach sensor we have success! The sensor crew has done a fantastic job with this install.
As you can see in the photo below the sensor is close to the beach. No sensor will correlate perfectly with what you experience on the water but locals assure us that this location should be useful. Let us know what correction factors you find work to make this sensor even more useful to others.
You can find this sensor at:

There is a chance we might expand our forecasting to cover the Pismo area sometime in the future. Please comment below if you would like to see human forecasts for this area.

Wow, I need some concrete blocks, thanks for the info.
Just sayin'.
I hope you mean temporarily installed for now.

Hi nw30,
This was one of those sites where the property owners definitely did not want penetration of the roof or a separate mast on the side of the building.
Our installs range from 18" in diameter 30 foot high concrete posts embedded 10 feet in the ground to funky sets ups like the one in the photo.
For us the most cost effective mast and mount in the long run is something really solid like you see in our Weatherflow sensor installs below.
But if our choice is between not having a sensor at all for a valuable location like Pismo or having a funky install we go with the choice that will most benefit our customers. Hence this Pismo sensor.

So it's on a flat roof with no stairs up to it I assume. That would be good if I'm correct.
It's just that I used to live in that area, and still not that far away, I just want to see it last that's all, without anybody ripping anything off.
Hence my concern.

Mike
If you expand the forecast to the central coast, it would be great to finally get a forecast that will include both Arroyo Laguna and Lopez along with Pismo. There might be other kiting spots that others can suggest.
Let us know what to expect and when you can start.
Thanks

Perhaps you local boys would like to contribute to the "Local Info" portion of the new site? The local boys from up North Santa Cruz way would like to know. You must get lonely from time to time?
