Annie: You may be the
first in the western hemisphere who actually used those racks for their intended purpose.

I dont have an XTerra, but have had a Pathfinder for 10+ years, 212,000 miles on it with no major problems. I am, however, getting a new car and decided on a sport wagon -- the Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon -- rather than any of the SUVs on the market.

I considered the XTerra, which seems to be a good deal/value, and if it holds up like my Pathfinder, would continue to be a good deal. However, I was concerned by the size of its cargo area -- the Pathfinders is just big enough to store my bigger sails (6.0, 6.3) and booms, and the XTerra is smaller than the Pathfinder -- and whether the top rack is wide enough to carry boards side by side with masts.

Take a look at Edmunds.com -- they have good town hall discussions about all sorts of makes and models, as well as having specs and pricing information.

Hi..Anne.. I agree it is cool looking. However the cargo area seems small.
If you looked at one, id bring my gear and try to fit it in.
